Alexis Williams

Alexis Williams is a Jamaican born fashion designer who grew up in Oxford and is now completing her final year at Ravensbourne University in London. Her life has been shaped by movement — across countries, cultures, and cities — which has given her a multifaceted view of the world that informs her designs.

Her final collection, Kromanti Threads, is a tribute to the Jamaican Maroons — freedom fighters who lived beyond the reach of empire. Inspired by Queen Nanny's strength and the sacred Kromanti tradition, the garments blend protection, ritual, and resistance. Plaid, drawn from Jamaica's national dress, is reworked and reclaimed linking the history of rebellion to the vibrant culture the island grew to hold. Through layered textures, pleating, patchwork and embroidery, Kromanti Threads stitches together a story of ancestral pride and identity.

Williams unique perspective as someone who has navigated different cultural landscapes fuels her desire to create designs that celebrate diversity and challenge conventional narratives in fashion. Through a focus on textiles and storytelling, she explores how history, memory, and craft can be reinterpreted today.
