Aliya Hersey

Aliya Hersey is a multidisciplinary designer originally from Austin, Texas, now based in London by way of Zürich.

Building on their passion for visual art, Hersey has shifted their creative practice towards digital design, with a focus on UX/UI. They aim to create intuitive, engaging user experiences that are both functional and visually compelling. Alongside UX/UI, they have an interest in graphic design, typography, and illustration, often blending these disciplines to bring a playful and vibrant energy to their work. Their style is influenced by the colours, shapes, and stories they encounter in everyday life.

Hersey is proficient in a range of industry standard design software such as Figma, Photoshop and Illustrator, enabling them to adapt to various creative challenges.

Blkprint: Showcasing Black Creatives Foundation Final major project | UI/UX, logo design, branding. The FMP theme was "Power of Voice". Blkprint is a collective to give voice to the underrepresented Black creatives, primarily up and coming young minds, hence the slogan "Big dreams no small print". The asterisk in their logo takes the typical meaning of the symbol and makes it their own, it symbolizes the Black creatives whose work is too often overlooked or uncredited. The website prototype currently has six profiles who are/were students from Ravensbourne, and can be viewed with the share link.
Blkprint: Physical Outcomes
Blkprint: Physical OutcomesFoundation Final major project — Illustration, zine and pin making. Blkprint provides a collection of physical items, that are available on the website. The zines and print are digitally illustrated and the pins were designed on Illustrator, and made by hand with a pin badge machine. The Black hair zine talks about the importance and history of Black hair. The print, zines, and pins are available in the zine subscription box.

Kunsthaus Museum Redesign
Kunsthaus Museum RedesignMuseum redesign project — Graphic design, logo design, branding. For the Kunsthaus Zürich's redesign, it focused on appealing to a younger audience. This is shown through use of new bright colours and hosting youth events in their buildings.
