Andra Slabu

Andra Slabu is an architecture student with a strong interest in urban planning, wellbeing-focused design, and sustainability. She is passionate about reconnecting cities with nature and addressing the environmental and social challenges caused by urban disconnection from the natural world. Her work focuses on creating spaces that are environmentally responsible, inclusive, and supportive of wellbeing.

Slabu's strong skills in sketching and physical modelling allow her to quickly explore and communicate ideas, while her proficiency in various CAD and digital tools enables her to bring concepts to life with precision and clarity. This hands-on, iterative approach helps her develop thoughtful and adaptable designs at various stages of the process.

Slabu aspires to work in an architecture practice where she can continue developing her skills, contribute to meaningful, forward-thinking projects, and help create more sustainable and nature-connected built environments.

Rhythm & Bloom: Community and youth centre for charity Young Roots
Rhythm & Bloom: Community and youth centre for charity Young RootsMoving to a new place may be challenging, especially when trying to integrate with existing groups in a community. People may struggle to connect with their local environment. To help with this issue, this project seeks to create facilities for young people in need as well as connect the existing community so that they are encouraged to engage with the charity. Building to create social cohesion can benefit the community and ultimately offer young immigrants a sense of belonging in the community, creating a place they can call home. The proposal will work as a community and social interaction hub for the community in Croydon. The ground level is focused on activities and skill learning for Young Roots’ audience. The first floor is for physical activities, it has a yoga and dance studio as well as a mini rooftop garden.
