Kate Salgado
Kate Salgado is a London based fashion designer who's work explores the intersections of sustainability, identity and eco-consciousness. With a practice rooted in environmental advocacy and feminist ideologies, Salgado uses fashion as a tool to drive change — examining culture, femininity, and the urgent need for ecological responsibility.
Her most recent project, “How can the aesthetics of coral bleaching through the language of fashion and design open a dialogue on climate consciousness and provoke change?”, developed for her Final Major Project (2025), investigates the impact of coral bleaching as both an environmental crisis and a metaphor for irreversible damage inflicted on our planet. Through this work, she invites her audience to partake in conversations around environmental change and the importance of sustainable practices.
Salgado aims to create designs that challenge convention while remaining grounded in ethical values. Her ethos as a designer is driven by the belief that fashion is more than fabric on a mannequin — it is a powerful art form capable of sparking change and engaging with critical discussions.
