Mathilde Tyler
Mathilde Tyler is a photographer, videographer and editor based in East London. Her work explores themes like human interaction, experience, colour and movement. Her latest project, Echoes in Silence, looks at the beauty and importance of human connection in contrast to the rise of AI. Using Morse code, analogue film and hands-on processes like bleach and ink, she’s created a short film and a series of prints that reflect on real, physical communication. The project focuses on memory, decay and how we connect with one another — using old methods and materials to say something about what’s missing in the digital world.
Movement – This piece is taken from an experimental project where the themes of capturing movement and light were the main factors. Using a slower shutter speed, the photo captures the swaying of the models face, encapsulating the shape in which his movements make.
Morse Code — Power of voice – This is from a final submission sub-experiment, where morse code has been mapped into camera settings to produce a sequence of images spelling a chosen statement out. Can you figure it out?
The Ghost – This photo is taken from a shoot which was held at the beginning of Ravensbourne's first term. The photoshoot captures an eerie and frigid figure, The Ghost.
