Melek Ahmet
Melek Ahmet is a dedicated young creative and aspiring graphic designer. She has recently completed a Foundation Diploma in Art & Design specialising in Visual Communication Design and is moving on to study Graphic Design at Kingston School of Art.
Ahmet enjoys working across both digital and traditional analog mediums. During her foundation course, she has developed skills in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign. Her creative practise is inspired by societal, cultural and political issues, particularly those connected to her heritage and environment.
Her Final Major Project, titled “Filling the Silence”, aims to educate primary school children on the voice within sign language. She has created a British Sign Language (BSL) starter pack, including a book, flashcards, bingo cards and as an interactive learning tool. The project was inspired by the societal lack of awareness and understanding of BSL.
