Nuha Errayes
Nuha Errayes is a meticulous designer specialising in digital fashion, with a narrative-driven approach to design. Errayes enjoys storytelling and making observations of the world from a playful point of view, confronting things with a sense of humour. She is passionate about conveying her ideas through both creative pattern cutting and textile work, adding an element of tactility in her projects that also introduce a layer of three-dimension in her digital garments and invites people to look closer; to laugh; to feel.

“After this” Look 1 – Look 1 explores the idea of falling apart as a consequence of neglecting your own needs in favour of your work. This look challenges the infamous phrase “After this, I'll rest” – “this” being the next task, deadline, submission — reflecting the relentless demands of the industry and the pressure to keep your head down and hold yourself together until “the finish line”. The visible sutures on the garment act as a metaphor of literally suturing yourself and your ideas together to keep your momentum going.

"After this" Look 2 – Look 2 draws direct comparisons between cutouts in a suture kit and cutouts and remnants found in the atelier. It is an acceptance that the “finish line” is just an illusion in Fashion. This look imagines what would happen if your neglected health manifested in your clothing and the way you decide to dress, humorously suggesting the exhausted designer with no mind to think of what to wear themselves might choose to wear their scraps around instead.

“After this” Look 3 Close up – This look is completely engulfed by oversized, magnified suture knots that make up the entire garment — visually echoing a surgeon frantically operating to save a life. It mirrors the manic mindset of a fashion student obsessively altering a toile under crushing time constraints — though, satirically, with very different stakes on the line. Approximately 1.8 kilometres of various materials were knotted into this piece, a physical reflection of the mountain of labour that underpins every finished garment.
“After this” Look 3 Clo3D Render – Look 3 from “After this” digitally twinned in a virtual environment, featuring various knot types directly replicated from the physical garment.

Harris Tweed x Nuha Errayes – Sponsored by Harris Tweed, this competition entry — undertaken alongside the mainline collection — celebrates the Scottish origins of the pyjama check. Using iconic Harris Tweed fabrication, it explores the evolving relationship between sleepwear and workwear and how the line between the two is becoming increasingly blurred. It imagines how a sleep-deprived creative might design their own wardrobe: something always ready for sleep at any given moment.
