Rachel Jomini
Rachel Jomini's graduate collection, “Salon des Refusés”, explores the idea of clothing outside the context of the body and how clothing is interpreted with little to no indication of the body. Jomini's design development focuses on depth of research and experimental draping, utilising every aspect of a garment to push silhouettes forward. Using charity store-bought garments, Jomini focused on garments that had been “heavily worn out” to merge and subtract elements from them. Layering and overstressing the fabric to cause tears allowed her to create new shapes from existing ones.
Jomini has worked at Supriya Lele as a Design Intern and at J.W. Anderson as a Product Development Intern.
