Rahat Rai
Rahat Rai is the kind of designer who can’t sit still - literally. Whether it’s twisting, turning, or taking things apart, Rai thrives on fidgeting with the world around him. From dismantling gadgets to experimenting with materials, no object is too sacred to be reimagined. This playful curiosity is the engine behind Rai’s design process, transforming everyday moments into opportunities for innovation, problem-solving, and a little bit of fun.
Driven by a love for experimentation and a deep desire to solve real problems, Rai is a hands-on product designer whose approach blends sustainability, form exploration, and technical making. From 3D printing to prototyping, Rai learns by doing, constantly pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. He is particularly fascinated by how things work, always eager to dig deeper, dissect, and transform ideas into practical solutions.
Inspiration often strikes from the simplest things like observing, questioning, and finding new ways to translate everyday experiences into purposeful designs. Sustainability is woven into the fabric of Rai’s work, influencing decisions about function, materials, and product lifecycle.
While Rai’s work has been recognised with an award, it’s the ongoing journey of learning, tinkering, and discovery that truly drives them. His Final Major Project, Done & Dusted, is a reflection of that process - where he challenges the perception of dust as mere waste, exploring innovative ways to transform it into a functional, sustainable material, revealing its hidden potential and encouraging a fresh perspective on everyday discarded resources.
