Shanley Sookarry

Shanley Sookarry is an emerging architectural designer currently completing a BA (Hons) in Architecture at Ravensbourne University London. With a passion for socially driven design, his work focuses on creating inclusive, community-focused spaces that respond to contemporary issues such as migration, sustainability, and urban regeneration.

His design approach blends contextual sensitivity with material innovation, often exploring the use of natural, renewable resources such as glulam, hemp and timber cladding to deliver architecture that is environmentally responsible and future-proof. Drawing inspiration from cultural diversity and public need, Sookarry aims to create spaces that not only serve functional purposes but also strengthen social cohesion and well-being.

During his academic journey, Sookarry has explored a range of design disciplines from adaptive reuse to modular community buildings demonstrating strong conceptual thinking, visual communication and technical understanding. His most recent project, a community hub in Croydon, embodies these values by integrating passive environmental strategies and prefabricated construction techniques to support migrant integration and youth engagement.

Sookarry is deeply interested in the intersection of architecture, social impact and sustainable design. He is committed to developing work that reflects the lived experiences of diverse communities while addressing the urgent environmental challenges of our time. With a forward-thinking mindset and a strong grounding in both design and research, Sookarry continues to build a portfolio that reflects his vision of architecture as a tool for positive change.
