Tiffany Nimmyel

Tiffany Nimmyel is someone who uses fashion as a way to promote the beauty in elegance and modesty. Her interest lies deep within womenswear, as she is someone who believes that the beauty of a woman should be kept sacred by the way she chooses to dress. She is very particular about her styling techniques for a garment, where she tries different techniques with each design she brings to life. Her one trademark in her garments is the use of volume and bold silhouettes. Nimmyel believes it gives a garment statement and the ability to catch the attention of its viewers. In her designs, she is seen to use a different style of creating a garment each time there is a different project at hand, this helps her continue to build on her knowledge of fashion, as well as being able to adapt to any sort of fashion technique that would need to be used in making a garment.

Fashion is a way of not only representing who you are, but also what you believe in. Nimmyel believes that every person on Earth should have an opportunity to do so. She also feels that the beauty in modesty that fashion once brought has been lost and is an important style that needs to find its way back globally, this is one of the reasons she is very passionate about being a designer that is influenced by elegance, class, and modesty.

Stratum Q Collaborative Project
Stratum Q Collaborative Project Theme chosen: 2010 Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill and its effect on marine life The garment is a representation of the actual explosion of the oil rig, expressed through the use of foil as the explosion, and a hand print designed using palm oil (sustainability) and blue ink dye. To showcase how the toxins of oil spills deform the body of a jellyfish (marine life focused on), the garment was made slender, not having the usual roundness of jellyfish.
Final Major Project Design Development
Final Major Project Design Development Concept - Climate Disruption: :“Will nature finally catch up to us?” This design development is a representation of the chaos that exists between industrialisation, climate change and pollution; it shows how they are connected, and one area affects the other.
Everyday Statements Project
Everyday Statements ProjectThe aim of this project was to take recycled materials and transform them into an accessory piece, promoting sustainability in fashion. This shoulder piece comprises of five large plastic bottles, that have been cut into strips, and then burned to melt the plastic and manipulate it, to create this disfigured design. The bottles were then hot-glued together to make one large piece. A strap was glued underneath the cluster for support on the shoulder.
The Methodical Design Project
The Methodical Design ProjectThis project's focus was on how to make toiles, in order to present a design idea to an audience. The concept that inspired this toile was on growth; how growth comes in many forms, and has no specific order or pattern, but once recognized beauty and a sense of understanding can be seen.
The Sustainable White Project
The Sustainable White ProjectThis project was based on the use of sustainability throughout the entire process of designing and producing a garment, with only using the color, white. This piece was inspired by the concept of Nostalgia; the details and actual fit of the garment were derived from the comfort felt during the years of childhood, and crocheting was not only used as a way to be sustainable but it adds the touch of childhood as many started crocheting as a fun children's activity. In addition, the flowers were hand sown onto the skirt.
